Job Location: Nagoya, Japan
Experience: None required but must be a native speaker
Salary: depends on class load, experiences and contract terms (2500 to 3000 yen / class for native speakers)
(2000 to 2500 yen / class for students and fluent level foreigners)
Work Days: Saturdays about 40 times in a year (negotiable)
Weekdays also possible! Please ask.
Work Hours: 9:00 to 6:00 (class times TBA) depends on your schedule
First 1 hour is for prep time.
A. 9:00 to 5:00 5 Lessons X 2500 yen
B. 9:00 to 12:00 2 Lessons X 2600 yen
C. 9:00 to 14:00 4 Lessons X 2500 yen
(12:00 to 1:00 1h Lunch)
Description of position
You will be in charge of the same students for a variety of ESL classes. Class sizes will be up to around 6 to 10 students. Lunch time shift needs no prep time but more than 12 students to take care of.
Additional Information
Instructors use materials and curriculum provided by the school. All materials are paid for by the school. Most classes are 50 or 100 minutes. Students learn English through a variety of activities and topics such as phonics, drama, cooking, crafts, and academic lessons similar to those taught in the United States, and also learn through action-based activities.
Your duties include preparing classroom set up and learning about lesson plans, keeping records and writing report cards (about 3 times in a year), organizing and keeping safety of the students, participating in cleaning and organizing school materials and facilities, helping with school decorations, participating in parents/teacher/office meeting in Jan, and assisting with the operation of the school as otherwise instructed. Some duties are specific to each position.
About Visa Applications
It can take up to 3 months for a working visa to be processed. Mailing documents back and forth can take another couple of weeks.
